The number one complaint from stylists about their shears cutting, whether newly sharpened shears or new shears is that they fold hair. This was a complaint on Bonika Shears I received today.
I just ordered a pair of the bonika twister swivel thumb shears and i got them today. I was cutting hair today with them and they are dull! I think a $200 pair of shears should be the sharpest pair ive ever seen and stay that way for quite a few months! They will not cut the hair they just bend the hair i am not pleased with this product. Alicia
Here was my answer:
I am so sorry you had this experience. The Twister Shear as all other shears will fold hair if the pivot screw is not adjusted tight enough. Often with a brand new shear and with shears that are newly sharpened the small parts and pieces under the adjustment screw settle into place after the first haircut making the shears loosen and the shears to fold hair. Please turn the screw to the right one click at a time and check the adjustment and the cut. I think this will solve the problem. If it does not, please return them for a full refund. I will even pay the shipping. We also may have a warranty service person in your area who will come to you and either pick up the shears or fix the tension on them. Where do you live?

Moral of this story.... Before you panic and think you have dull shears.... check and see if you have a screw loose!
